  15. <p>     CONVICTED. John List, 64, fugitive arrested last year in
  16. Richmond for the murder of his family in Westfield, N.J., in
  17. 1971; of five counts of first-degree murder; in Elizabeth, N.J.
  18. List's attorney admitted the accountant had killed his wife,
  19. mother and three children but claimed he had a mental problem
  20. that made him incapable of aborting the plot once he had
  21. conceived it. A prosecution psychiatrist said he merely suffered
  22. from a mid-life crisis. List, who had taken a new identity and
  23. wife, was spotted by viewers of the TV program America's Most
  24. Wanted.
